Excessive Obsession with Electronic Gadgets

On my trip to Chennai by flight, one of the striking things that I have noticed was people's excessive obsession with Electronic Gadgets.
All the travellers carried their mobile phones, most of them their Laptops, some of them their Tablets, and few of them their I-pods and I-pads. As many of them were travelling alone, they were all connected to one or the other gadget.
Even while we were on-board, the moment one of the Pilots allowed the passengers to use their electronic gadgets, I saw many of them opening their laptops and other gadgets. At one time, there was a turbulence so the passengers were asked to shut down their electronic gadgets but one passenger was running music loudly on his phone and was fast asleep. This is something which irritates me a lot. If someone would like to hear music they can use their earphones and not disturb other passengers. But some of them have this dirty habit of playing loud music while they are travelling. Thankfully, this time a passenger who was sitting beside this man alerted him and asked him to switch off his phone.
In an other instance, one lady was handling her Laptop, phone and music player all the same time. I don't know what exactly she was doing but she was switching from one gadget to the other. I wonder why people do not take time to talk with other passengers and learn some new things from their books or the surroundings. Instead, they stick to their gadgets and are lost in their own worlds.
Only God can save us from this obsession. Certainly, we need those gadgets and they are helpful but if we become slaves to them then it would be a very dangerous situation. I believe, it could lead to many problems like depression, perversion and oppression.

Pastor Returns After a Long Break.

It has been a long time that I have blogged. I almost forgot that I had created a blog. (Of course, I am very good at forgetting:)) Anyway, I am really glad that I am back to share my experiences with you. When I started blogging, I was placed in a rural village but right now I am in an Urban church, famously known as St John's Church. It is the oldest church in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, which has a history of almost 200 years. It is basically an Anglican church, which initially served the spiritual needs of the British forces that was stationed in Secunderabad. However, right now people from all walks of life attend this church and worship here. I am really very privileged to serve as a Pastor of this historical church because I am the youngest of all the Pastors who served this church.
As I restart to share my ruminations with you, kindly give in your inputs and encourage me. Thank you and God bless you!
